Dr John Langley is a senior educator with numerous accomplishments in education, business, government and project leadership. He has led a number of organisations and projects at local, national and international level and has been involved in the strategic direction setting and operations of a Crown entity, a large tertiary institution and a private company.

John is currently Chief Executive Officer of Cognition Education and Executive Trustee for the Cognition Institute, Auckland. He was previously the inaugural Dean of the Faculty of Education at The University of Auckland. As Principal of Auckland College of Education, he led the amalgamation between the College and the University to form the new Faculty of Education on 1 September 2004.

A transformation is happening in our attitude to imprisonment which should (ironically) improve society’s appreciation of the value of schools. It is well understood by the public that the reasons many people end up in prison are to do with failures in their families, communities and schools.
