He has led a number of organisations and projects at local, national and international level and has been involved in the strategic direction setting and operations of a Crown entity, a large tertiary institution and a private company.
John is currently Chief Executive Officer of Cognition Education and Executive Trustee for the Cognition Institute, Auckland. He was previously the inaugural Dean of the Faculty of Education at The University of Auckland. As Principal of Auckland College of Education, he led the amalgamation between the College and the University to form the new Faculty of Education on 1 September 2004.
