The first step has been to develop a charter for education in Auckland, Whakakotahitanga Te Ara, which sets out core beliefs and principles so that education can make a bigger difference to Auckland. The group has integrated the feedback it received from other Summit participants into an updated charter and is now ready to test it with their own networks.
From next year, organisations and Individuals will be able to sign up to Te Ara and identify actions they can take to help achieve the agreed goals. There will be regular progress updates, new tools, and opportunities to share effective practices, as well as to coordinate strategic activities.
The charter can also provide a way for the education sector to monitor progress towards education goals in the soon to be finalised Auckland Plan.
Watch out for your opportunity to show your commitment to Auckland education by signing up to Whakakotahitanga Te Ara early in 2012.
